Norwegian Krone is the official currency of Norway. Known as "Krone" for short (or "Kroner" as the plural), the currency is code NOK. The name translates to "crown" in English.

Unlike some currencies that are shared across borders, the Krone is only used in Norway. Norway isn’t a member of the EU, so it has always kept its own currency rather than the euro.

Norway is generally considered one of the more expensive European destinations, but offers excellent value when it comes to quality, safety and experience.

When travelling to Norway, there's no limit on how much cash you can take. But if you're carrying currency worth more than NOK 25,000 (in any combination of currencies), you must declare this to Norwegian Customs. If you don't declare it, you could face a penalty of 20% of the amount you're carrying.

Norway is one of the most cashless societies in the world, so using a travel money card is often more practical than carrying large amounts of cash.

However, regardless of your card type, your card provider may apply fees, e.g. cash advance fees or other fees, so please check with them before you purchase your travel money.

You can cancel a Click+Collect order any time prior to collection. We'll refund you with the full Sterling amount that you paid for your order, unless you cancel less than 24 hours before your collection date, in which case we'll charge a £10 late cancellation fee.

We are unable to refund any fees charged by your card issuer, so please contact them if you have any further queries.

Just pop into one of our in-store Travel Money Bureaux when you get home. We buy back most of the currencies we sell in most banknote values and also the Multi-currency Cash Passport™. Buy back rates may vary during the day.

It doesn't matter where you bought your travel money, even if it wasn't from a Tesco Travel Money Bureau, we'll still buy it back.

Exchange rates may vary whether buying in store, online or by phone.

Clubcard Prices apply to foreign currency notes in stock on your date of online purchase. Due to constant market and currency fluctuations, rates on the date of purchase cannot be compared to another day’s rates. The actual rate you receive may vary depending on market fluctuations. You can add our Buy Back Promise when you buy your travel money from us online or in-store. Then, if you have any left over when you get home, we’ll turn your foreign currency back into Pounds Sterling at the same exchange rate you bought it at.

Just take your unspent currency to one of our in-store Travel Money Bureaux and we’ll buy it back.

Our Buy Back Promise costs just £2.75 if you’re a Clubcard member or £2.99 if you’re not.

Important information about our Buy Back Promise

Our Buy Back Promise is only available if you’re:

We’ll buy back your foreign currency bank notes at the same exchange rate you got when you bought your travel money from us, up to a maximum value of £250.

We’ll buy back any currency you have above the £250 limit using the rate available on the day, which you can see on our rates board in-store.

When you buy your travel money from us, you’ll see the exchange rate on your receipt.
